A crowd-pleasing favorite! "Troika" is an original Orff instrumental piece intended for wintertime performance, but can be played anytime of the year. Melodic/Harmonic form is based on Pentatonic. The form consists of an intro followed by AB sections repeated with a tagged ending. The piece gives students a chance to improve their mallet skills utilizing double strokes. The galloping sound of the temple blocks combined with the sound of the sleigh bells gives this work an undeniable feeling of winter.
